In his annual report at the agm of Hohenloher Molkerei on 21 June, Managing Director Martin Boschet described the last financial year as the most economically successful year in the company’s history.

At 435.6m kg, 186 employees (previous year: 175) processed the largest volume of milk to date (+5.1%). Of this, 422.8m kg came from cooperative members (+4.2%). A turnover of €345.7m was generated in the 2023 financial year (+5.1%). The increase was due to higher sales volumes and, in some cases, higher product prices and is significantly above the industry average for the German dairy industry.

The milk price for the past financial year averaged 57.38c gross for all milk qualities with 4.2% fat and 3.4% protein. This corresponds to 52.64c excl. VAT at 4.2 % fat. At 4.0% fat and 3.4% protein, the average conventional milk price for all qualities was 52.1c. This put the Hohenlohe dairy 6.76c above the German average. The standard milk price for organic milk with 4.2% fat and 3.4% protein was 58.77c excl. VAT.

Hohenloher Molkerei’s sales of UHT products increased by 7.9m kg or 2.9% to 276.5m kg in 2023. This represents a new sales record. Butter sales increased by 15.6% to 10,871 tons in 2023. The bulk milk business was expanded due to larger milk volumes. A total of 50m kg of milk (incl. concentrate) was shipped to domestic and foreign customers (+9.8%).

Investments totalled €14.1m, with the focus on the acquisition of new filling technology for UHT milk packs with tethered caps.
