The continued decline in the cow population combined with high temperatures last year led to a partial decline in EU milk production in 2022, according to a recent FAO analysis. 2022 milk production is estimated at 232.6m tons for Europe as a whole. This represents a slight decrease of 0.6% compared to the previous year, mainly due to production declines in Ukraine, the EU, the UK and Norway.
Milk production in Ukraine has decreased by 16 % compared to the 2021 figures.
