Arla Foods Ingredients AFI will acquire the whey business from Volac. The UK-based Volac Group specialises in processing whey into ingredients for sports nutrition, with by-products sold to the food and pet food industries. At the heart of the business is its whey processing plant in Felinfach, Wales. AFI will acquire the business through the purchase of the shares in Volac Whey Nutrition Holdings Ltd and its subsidiaries Volac Whey Nutrition Ltd and Volac Renewable Energy Ltd. Completion is expected later this year, subject to regulatory approvals. The acquisition is likely to play an important role in AFI’s future plans and underpins the company’s commitment to the UK.
