Groupe Bel is investing €9m in its research centre in Vendôme. Together with partners such as the French agricultural group Avril and the Canadian culture specialist Lallemand, Bel is launching a project there to develop a new generation of fermented plant-based products.
At the Vendôme R&D centre, 80 researchers are working on plant-based innovations, new products and improved packaging. In addition to the Cocagne project, Groupe Bel is investing a further €7.5m in the expansion of its research activities.
Groupe Bel wants to divide its turnover equally between dairy products and plant-based products. Cheese currently accounts for a good two thirds of the business.
