BMI will close its Ebermannstadt plant in April 2023. The management and the supervisory board have unanimously come to the assessment that, from an economic point of view, it is unfortunately no longer possible to continue the operation. The main reasons for the planned closure are a lack of milk volumes and a dramatic increase in costs in many areas, especially energy. The management is strongly committed to taking on all of the approximately 80 permanent employees at other BMI locations and will also support these changes financially.
The Ebermannstadt plant currently produces blue cheese and mozzarella. The closure of the site will make additional raw milk volumes available for a positive economic development of BMI’s Windsbach plant.
