Somerdale International will be championing a comprehensive range of great tasting, premium British cheese at Anuga, taking place in Cologne, Germany from 7th – 11th October.  Anuga is the world’s largest and most important trade fair for food and beverages.  Over five days it expects to attract in excess of 150,000 visitors who will be able to see the world’s largest range of products being promoted by over 7,800 exhibitors from 118 countries.

At Anuga, Somerdale will showcase a comprehensive range of over 30 premium British cheeses made by some of the country’s leading cheesemakers including Barbers (the oldest surviving cheddar-makers in the World!), Joseph Heler, Quickes, Cropwell Bishop, Croome Cuisine and Ford Farm to name but a few.  The company will also be exhibiting its own range of branded cheddars and innovative blended cheeses targeted at the growing demand in export markets for both demonstrable provenance and distinctively flavoured & textured cheese.  The latter will include:

  • Westminster Cheddar – Somerdale’s best-selling branded range of great tasting quintessentially British Cheddars including Westminster Rustic Red, a traditional cheddar with the addition of Anatto and helveticus cultures give wonderful sweet, nutty tones and a distinctive deep orange hue.
  • A range of Somerdale English Territorial Cheeses including authentic Double Gloucester, Red Leicester and Cheshire
  • Somerdale’s range of Wensleydale cheese blended with fruit including the classic pairing of Wensleydale & Cranberries. Creamy Wensleydale is one of England’s oldest cheeses and was first made by monks in the north of England around the 11th century. This unrinded white cheese has a natural acidity that pairs wonderfully with fruit, creating the perfect dessert cheese.

Said Alan Jenkins, Director of Somerdale International: “Anuga is a global meeting point where thousands of customers and distributors from across the world will converge.  As such, it provides the perfect platform for us to meet with both existing and new customers and we look forward to showcasing and sampling with them our range of great tasting cheeses made by some of the very best British cheesemakers.” somerdale.com/
