CONO Kaasmakers will end the entry fee scheme for new member dairy farmers from September 2024. The CONO board has decided that new CONO dairy farmers will no longer pay an entry fee when they join the cooperative. What will also change is that new member dairy farmers will become members of the cooperative immediately.
The board, as well as many member dairy farmers, is convinced that maintaining sufficient volume of milk is essential for CONO. This in order to be able to meet the market demand in the coming years as well and to continue making optimum use of the cheese factory. The number of dairy farmers terminating their businesses in the Netherlands has increased due to the pressure on the sector and stoppers’ schemes. In addition, opportunities for growth for existing dairy farmers have been reduced.
