The Greek competition authorities have approved the merger of the dairy companies Delta and Dodoni. A majority stake in Dodoni will be acquired by CVC Capital Partners, a fund that already controls Vivartia, Delta’s parent company.
Dodoni’s main products are feta and yoghurt, while Delta is strong in the consumer milk market. The two companies have already worked out a synergy project to jointly market their respective products throughout Greece.
Among dairy products, yoghurt has seen the highest growth in Greece since 2011, with strong exports, which have increased from 22.4% of total production in 2010 to 41% in 2019. In addition to Delta and Dodoni, strong players in this market include FAGE, Kri-Kri, Mevgal and Olympos. Exports of feta increased by 10 % to €432m in 2020.
