The European Commission granted more than 34 million euros in aid for meat and dairy promotion campaigns in 2022. In 2021, the figure was 54 million euros. In addition, more than 37 million euros went to sales programmes for products containing meat or dairy products. In 2021, the Commission allocated 39 million euros for this purpose. This is according to a study by Dutch Stichting Dier&Recht, which annually examines which European subsidies are provided for the promotion of meat and dairy products.

More than 21 million euros were available for the promotion of dairy products in 2022, compared to almost 25 million euros in 2021. In total, 23% of the funds for agricultural promotion are earmarked for meat and dairy programmes. If programmes that include meat or dairy products are included, the share is 47 %.
