Protest against mandatory milk pasteurisation

Date: 04.01.2023Source: Dawn

The Indian state of Punjab is starting to implement a regulation already issued in 2017, according to which milk may only be sold pasteurised from July 2022. With this, Punjab has provoked its farmers, who want to vehemently oppose the order. They accuse the state government of promoting the interests of the dairy industry to the detriment of farmers who sell bulk milk. The farmers are demanding a postponement of the mandatory pasteurisation for 10 years.
