The planned cheese dairy of Schwarzwaldmilch in Titisee, Germany, will not be built due to exploding construction costs. Because the increased prices for materials were no longer affordable from the dairy’s point of view, the company decided on Friday (17 Dec 2021) not to pursue the project any further. According to Schwarzwaldmilch, the financial resources that would have to be raised for the construction project exceed what is justifiable.
Schwarzwaldmilch had begun initial plans for its own cheese factory in the Black Forest in 2017. Last January, the dairy selected the winning design in the architectural competition. The design envisaged a highly visible and representative location in Titisee-Neustadt with an adjoining restaurant, a separate market area and an experience tour for visitors.
