Date: 17.01.2022Source: zepros

Sodiaal wants to benefit from the French craze for cheese. The co-op has announced a €170m investment programme over five years in its cheese dairies (37 in France and 3 international subsidiaries).

Nearly €60m will be devoted to developing the range of Appellation d’Origine Contrôlée (AOP) cheeses and other local brands (IGP, etc.). This will be of interest to the catering industry at a time when the Egalim law is being implemented and 50% of quality products (including 20% organic) are to be used.

In addition, €70m will be dedicated to developing new uses for everyday cheeses, including €40m for the organic and grated ranges and €30m for raclette.

The cooperative will also invest €20m in adapting cheese packaging to the challenges of the circular economy, given that it aims to have 100% recyclable packaging by 2025. The remaining sum will be allocated to quality and adaptation to standards.
