North Wales dairy co-operative South Caernarfon Creameries announced a three-year £14.4m investment programme to increase its cheese production capacity by 50% and create 30 new jobs by 2024. SCC will increase cheese production from 15,000 tonnes to 23,000 tonnes and double cheese packaging capacity to 20,000 tonnes per year.

This will increase the demand for Welsh milk at the Chwilog plant from 130 million to over 200 million litres a year, with turnover expected to increase in parallel from £60 million to over £85 million a year. The investment is supported by a £5 million grant from the Welsh Government.
