UK based dairy company; Millbrook Dairy Company has built on its early success story by achieving a second year of phenomenal growth and is set to grow its markets in the Netherlands. Millbrook Dairy Company achieved exponential growth in its first year of trading after securing significant contracts in both the UK and export and launching new product ranges in both hard cheese and butter, all with the support of £1.6m funding package from Lloyds Bank.

Since its launch in 2019 the business has sold over 17,000 tonnes of cheese and butter, exceeding forecast tonnage threefold.

Based in the North Devon, Millbrook Dairy Company reported an impressive inaugural turnover of £15.5 million in its first year. Year Two brought further growth of 30% taking turnover beyond £20 million. Despite a difficult start to 2021 due to Covid related restrictions Millbrook Dairy’s performance is strong and is likely to exceed 2020 overall.

The company, founded in 2019 by David Evans and Kevin Beer, supplies a diverse range of the highest quality British and Irish cheese and butter to growing home markets as well as an international customer base in USA, China, Canada and South America and a European customer and supply base including the Netherlands. The UK business has maintained its operations during the coronavirus crisis, whilst accelerating growth and expanding its contracts with leading UK and European cheese buyers.

The past year has also seen Millbrook Dairy Company develop and launch its own-label product range, which is being specifically targeted to meet an uplift in demand for British products. This includes ‘1057’ Scottish Extra Mature Cheddar launched into North American, and UK markets this summer.

Said Kevin Beer, co-founder of Millbrook Dairy Company: “David and I have worked in the dairy industry all our lives and it’s great to be able to bring our experience to the fore in our own business. The food and drink industry is already geared towards strict hygiene standards and, in some ways, has seen a smoother transition into the ‘new normal’ since restrictions began to lift, than some sectors. In the last few months, we’ve been finalising a new in-house line of our own cheeses along with a host of new ideas and plans for the next twelve months – we are looking to forge a new future combining growth and innovation whilst building on our export market alongside strong partnerships and through collaborative working.”  For more visit millbrookdairy.com
