Milk production could fall by up to 8% and the price of milk could rise by over 10%. At the same time, organic dairy farming will become an even stronger focus of all sustainability efforts.
Plant-based dairy alternatives will not develop any real competition to original milk in the long run. However, precision fermentation poses a real threat to genuine milk ingredients. This is because precision fermentation delivers nature-identical products, soon probably at prices comparable to those of real dairy ingredients.
