Siemens is expanding its field device portfolio for process plants to include the new Sitrans SAM IQ app for the Smart Asset Management (SAM) of field devices. With the Sitrans SAM IQ app, the user has new opportunities to make use of valuable information that was previously hidden. Primarily, this is additional diagnostic data, which can be collected, prepared and visualised clearly. Sitrans SAM IQ has been developed specifically in line with the requirements of NAMUR, the User Association of Automation Technology and Digitalisation in Process Industries. The app can process data from Siemens field devices as well as devices from other manufacturers. The transfer of all device data to a uniform information model means that information from all manufacturers can be derived and compared for the first time.
Sitrans SAM IQ offers users a user-friendly overview of all integrated field devices. To make it easy to prioritise maintenance measures, the app shows the device status – as per Namur NE107 – at a glance. In addition, the user has numerous evaluation and monitoring options, which can be used to reduce device failures and increase plant availability. Furthermore, event-controlled field device servicing can be used to keep maintenance costs to a minimum.
Sitrans SAM IQ features a wide range of functions, such as the option of tracking a field device over the entire life-cycle of a measuring point, for device replacement or a repair. In the event of accidental changes to the configuration or unauthorised access, all changes can be identified easily in an event log and a restore process can be triggered. In addition, Sitrans SAM IQ enables users to validate measurements through the device-specific diagnostics of process values. Customiseable multi-parameter dashboards provide support for the optimisation of all processes. This means that values can be compared between devices and specific plausibility checks can be performed. Sitrans SAM IQ is ideal for use wherever field devices are used, for example in the Chemical, Pharmaceutical, Food & Beverage, Environment, Water and Oil & Gas industries. The cloud-based app is available both for desktop PC and for mobile devices such as tablets and smartphones, and offers users easy access to data from anywhere and at any time.
