Milcobel disagrees with a-Ware’s statement that milk pricing is due to the market and not tactical in nature. The cooperative points out that there was a similar scenario in the Netherlands and Germany two years ago when a-Ware acquired raw material with higher milk prices than the competition. In the meantime, the farmers who went to a-Ware at that time have become disappointed and have formed supplier organisations.
In a comparison of milk prices, a-Ware is actually behind Milcobel until June 2021, measured by the Dutch ingredient rating. Micobel paid 34.81 cents in the first half of the year, a-Ware came in at 34.01 cents.
